The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church
At First Baptist, music is a vital part of the worship experience. It is our desire to communicate through music the joy of being a Christian and to lead the people to a true experience of worship. Through authentic worship, we believe that the people of God will live lives that exemplify Christ and His power to change lives.
The Worship Choir participates in the Sunday morning worship service. Rehearsals are on Sunday night at 7:00. Membership is open to anyone who has a desire to sing and lead in worship. No auditions are required.
The Handbell ensemble meets on Sunday at 4:30 PM. The Handbell ensemble plays periodically throughout the year during the worship service as well as for special Christmas performances. Currently there are no spaces available, but if you wouldd like to participate, let us know of your desire and we will notify you as soon as a position becomes available.
The Instrumental ensemble is open to anyone who plays an instrument. Currently we have drums, mandolin and keyboards. Members meet with the Music Minister each Sunday at 9:00 to prepare for the worship service. If you play an instrument and can be available for rehearsals on Sunday morning, we would love to have you.
We are in the process of forming a Men's quartet. If you have interest in participating in such a group, please let us know. We do ask that those who participate in ensembles also be involved in the Worship Choir.
We have a Christmas program every year. It is a community effort, and members from area churches are invited to participate in the choir and drama team. Rehearsals begin in late August on Sunday nights at 7:00 PM. If you would like to be a part of this choir, or have questions, please contact the Music office at (830) 964-3457.
